I recently had the opportunity to contribute to a report on one of the most interesting challenges at the intersection of energy and technology: how to power the rapid growth of AI-driven data centers in Southeast Asia.
The report explores the role nuclear energy, particularly Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), could play in delivering reliable, low-carbon, always-on power. But it also makes clear that technology alone isn’t enough. Policy frameworks, financing structures, and market demand all need to evolve together.
If Southeast Asia is going to sustain its digital growth, solving the energy question will be essential.
